Egypt bans public artworks after ‘sculpture fiasco’

The Prime Minister of Egypt Sherif Ismail has banned all public artworks not approved by the Ministry of Culture after a series of sub-standard statues were erected in the city.

Ismail issued the decree after a controversial statue was unveiled in the eastern city of Sohag.
