There has been a hike in the number of cases of Ebola virus in the western Democratic Republic of Congo. The exact number of cases is 60 as reported by the World Health Organisation(WHO) on Monday. Mike Ryan, WHO emergencies expert told in a virtual briefing that the disease is active and not in control.
WHO also confirmed three cases were detected at the weekend, making a total of 56 confirmed and four probable infections announced last month in DRC’s Equateur province. This province includes part of the River Congo, where communities are linked across, and people travel, long distances.
