A loon balloon providing internet in Kenya for the first time

A commercial deal is made by Kenya to have a loon balloon with google company which was launched in Africa for the first time. It has started delivering services in Kenya on Tuesday and will provide a 4G LTE network connection across central and Western Kenya, including Nairobi. The balloon flies about 12 miles up in the stratosphere and carries solar-powered mobile networking equipment which is controlled by software on the ground.

Loon has launched 35 balloons for start and had a collaboration with Kenya Telkom. It is a cost-effective solution to the underdeveloped nation like Kenya. Kenya is now being watched closely by telecoms to have information if the idea is reliable or profitable or not.
