About 20 killed in an attack in eastern Burkina Faso

The government said in a statement that some unidentified gunmen have killed about 20 people in an attack on a cattle market in eastern Burkina Faso. The governor Colonel Saidou Sanou said in a statement on Friday that the gunmen made entry into the market in Namoungou village in the region of Fada N’Gourma and attacked the people there.

No claim was taken of responsibility for the attack and the army is now on a search operation. Many others are wounded. Another attack was made in the month of May in the cattle market in the eastern village of Kompienga where 25 people were dead.
