Africa’s Highest Peak, Kilimanjaro on fire!

Spread the news

A massive fire broke out at south-eastern slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak. The Tanzania National Parks service stated that the fire started on Sunday. “It’s an uncalming fire that is rapidly spreading, but we’ve sent 80 staff and 110 students to help put out the fire, as well as 64 students who are coming for a short period to help with firefighters.”

The fire was controlled by the force of the wind to some extend. So far, no injuries or deaths have been reported and no property has been damaged.

Tanzania National parks posted on Twitter that “Moto umezuka Mlima Kilimanjaro leo mchana  na jitihada za kuuzima bado zinaendelea. Taarifa zaidi zitafuatia. #TANAPANEWS BY @PASCALSHELUTETE”
