British High Commission Gives Nod to NYC Independence Day Lecture and Inauguration in London

The Leadership of the Nigerian Youth Congress led by the President and Chairman of the Governing Board, Blessing Akinlosotu, and Dr Yakubu Shendam respectively visited the Ambassador of the United Kingdom at the Embassy in Abuja, today. The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, His Excellency Catriona Laing CB who was ably represented by the Head of Political Section, Stuart Gardner, and Damilola Oyedele, Senior Political Advisor at the British High Commission were amazed at the Nigerian Youths’ visionary prowls. The Leadership which took time to elucidate to the British High Commissioner about the forthcoming Independence Day Lecture and Inauguration of the Nigerian Youth Congress, United Kingdom Chapter slated to hold at Hilton, London on 1st of October, 2020 with the theme: Nigerians Image and Integrity in Diaspora; The Place of the Youths.

The event will also feature the inauguration of Amb. Edward Olabode Majekodunmi, the United Kingdom Youth Ambassador which will be held at the Lighthouse Theatre 262-274 Camberwell Rd, Camberwell, London SES ODP on the 1st of October, 2020, from 4 PM-10 PM, London time. It is expected of all attendees to put on Green and White as the official dressing code for the epoch event. The Ambassador ably represented by Stuart Gardner applauded the Nigerian Youths for the timely initiative and passion to give the Nigerian Youths in the diaspora a face left from a different perspective. Pointing out that the Embassy is readily available to accommodate more of the Nigerian Youth Congress’ activities and programmes. Speaking further, the Ambassador stated that the visit was the first, since the beginning of the COVID-19 Pandemic. “We consider the importance of Youth in the Society and the benefits of your programme which was considered as a great sensitization and advocacy for the proper orientation of the Youth in Diaspora.

“We strongly believe that your organisation will do more to rebuild the image of Nigerian in Diaspora”, he added.

The Chairman Governing Board, Nigerian Youth Congress, Dr. Yakubu Shendam assured the British High Commissioner of the Nigerian Youths’ goodwill as he prayed that the relationship becomes more profitable in the process of time for both countries.

Similarly, the president of the body who recapped the meeting with a vote of thanks expressed delight in the way the High Commissioner has given the Nigerian Youth Congress open hands, stressing that the acceptability of the Nigerian Youth by the Commissioner is only a platform to do more and ensure that Nigeria is proud of her Youths within and in the diaspora.
