Central African Republic President Touadéra wins re-election

Faustin Archange Touadéra, Central African Republic President has been reelected. He has won the first round of the presidential vote. It happened on December 27. He has secured 53% of votes in that round, consistent with provisional results announced by the electoral commission which happened on Monday.

He won with a crystal clear majority of 53.92% of votes. President of the National Election Authority (ANE), Mathias Morouba, told a press conference. It happened within the capital, Bangui. However, the results must be officially validated. This has to be done by the Constitutional Court if there are possible appeals.
