This coronavirus outbreak is destroying the world recklessly and yet creating a set of problems for West Africa, especially for the children.
The symptoms of Covid-19 are much similar to common diseases in Africa. The common diseases like malaria and SCA (sickle cell anaemia) are hard to differentiate from Covid-19. Despite availability restrictions, some children are tested for the virus. Majority of children will show symptoms such as fever, cough, fatigue, vomiting, nausea and diarrhoea. Some kind of chronological symptomatology (such as wheezing and shortness of breath) is seen in about half of affected children. In the majority of cases, pneumonia is a preliminary sign that spreading in a serious way.
Main concern sticks with SCA as Africa is a land of SCA cases with most cases in Democratic Republic of Congo and Nigeria. SCA affects most organs of the body similarly how Covid-19 affects so it becomes necessary for the laboratories to differentiate among the two. Evidence also shows that internal body immunity helps to fight this virus and parents to maintain this procedure to stand against this pandemic.
