Ethiopia has spectacular scenery, ranging from the flat-top mountains in the north to the coloured salt flats and lava lakes of the Erta Ale volcano, which lie at the Danakil Depression; a wealth of flora and wildlife (a land where people and hyenas live peacefully); and age-old civilizations, like the city of Axum (one of Africa’s longest-standing settlements), the Rock of Rome. It is also one of the most rapidly expanding economies on the continent, with booming towns and young people, just a second to Ghana. For this reason, many tourists still have to be drawn, and visitors in this amazing country can sometimes find themselves alone and rediscover themselves.
