Former President of India, Pranab Mukherjee died at 84!

India’s former President, Pranab Mukherjee passed away on 31 August. He was 84 years old. He was undergoing brain surgery in an army hospital,  Army Research and Referral hospital in New Delhi, India. His death was announced by his son Abhijit Mukherjee on Twitter, he posted “With a heavy heart, this is to inform all of you that my father Shri Pranab Mukherjee has just passed away in spite of the best efforts of doctors. Thank all of you (folded hands). Hours before his death, hospital authorities said his condition had deteriorated and he was in a state of septic shock due to a lung infection.

India’s current President and Prime Minister paid their last respects today. His last rites will be performed today as his body is kept at his residence in the national capital.  The country is observing a seven-day morning period until September 6. Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted: “India grieves the passing away of Bharat Ratna Pranab Mukherjee. He has left an indelible mark on the development trajectory of our nation. A scholar par excellence, a towering statesman, he was admired across the political spectrum & by all sections of society.”
