Contending for the position of Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Ethiopia’s Ex-Foreign Affairs Minister, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus expresses his gratitude towards the people and Government of Ethiopia for allowing him to serve the great country.

Tedros Adhanom has served two ministerial posts in the past twelve years.   He served as Health minister for eight years before accepting the high ranked diplomatic portfolio for the last four years.

Workneh Gebeyehu, who was formerly Transport Minister is now Minister of Foreign Affairs. Ethiopia’s foreign relations have taken a hit in the past year following heavy security clampdown on anti-government protesters in the Oromo and Amhara regions.

Former Transport Minister, Workneh Gebeyehu is the newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs.  Member States of the World Health Organization (WHO) has proposed five other candidates for the position.
