Libya’s troops internationally identified government have taken control of Tripoli international airport, military spokesman for the Government of National Accord(GNA) said.
Mohmad Gnounou said that, “On Wednesday, our forces have fully freed Tripoli international airport.”
Since 2014 the airport had been closed and captured by the eastern-based traitor military commander Khalifa Haftar, since last year when he launched his strike on the capital of Libya.
Libya has been divided between rival dissents based in Tripoli and in the east, in a sometimes disordered war that has drawn in outside powers and a lot of foreign arms and mercenaries.
Russia’s RIA news agency said several senior Libyan officials, including Deputy Prime Minister Ahmed Maetig, arrived in Moscow before talks, earlier on Wednesday,
The UN Mission in Libya said it expected the new round of parlaying would “establish the starting of politeness on the ground”, especially to let the country’s war-disfigured health system cope with a coronavirus outbreak.
