The High Court of Uganda has ordered to close down a chain of private schools due to poor sanitation and its unacceptable curriculum. The Bridge International Academies group has stated that it offers affordable, high-quality education to 12,000 students who generally come from poor families. The Ugandan Education Ministry says the 63 schools must now close at once. This group has been supported by foundations such as those set up by Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates. A judge said the Bridge International school authorities had been given several chances to meet the national standards; but they have failed to do so.

The Ugandan government ordered their closure in July also accusing that the schools were recruiting unqualified teachers. But the organisation has decided to go to court to fight the decision.
