The President of the WAEMU Commission told the press that he is staying in Niamey to participate in the High Level Meeting on Food and Nutrition Security in the WAEMU area.

He took the opportunity to report to the Head of State on the evolution of UEMOA projects.

The two personalities discussed several issues: growth and economic convergence within the Union, the construction and strengthening of the Common Market, sectoral policies and the harmonization of legislation. They also discussed the results of the Annual Review of Community Programs and Projects and the implementation of the important decisions of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of 10 April 2017.

“On all these issues, I listened and recorded the comments and advice of the President of the Republic, which will be very useful to me in carrying out my task,” said Abdallah Boureima.

The Special Envoy of the President of Guinea Bissau carried a message from President José Mario Vaz to his brother and friend President Issoufou Mahamadou. This message is about strengthening the very good relations of cooperation between the two countries, said the Ambassador, Councilor Sano Mamadu.

The Chinese Ambassador to Niger recalled that the President of the Republic will participate in the Forum on Cooperation between China and Africa, in Beijing, next September.

At the end of this forum, the Head of State will make an official visit to China, focusing on cooperation in all areas between the two countries.

The Chinese diplomat said he had discussed with President Issoufou Mahamadou the preparation of these two events stressing that the two countries have a common ambition: to further develop and strengthen their bilateral cooperation relations.

China will strengthen its support for the G5 Sahel Force and Niger in the fight against terrorism, said Zhang Lijun, saying his country will continue to strengthen its assistance to our country.

In this sense, China will announce new aid for Niger, during the visit that the President of the Republic will perform in this country, he added.

The United Nations Under-Secretary for Counter-Terrorism has discussed with the President of the Republic the means of Niger to fight effectively against terrorism and the support of the United Nations in the fight against terrorism in Niger, in the region and in Africa.

The meeting focused on analyses of the level of the terrorist threat, the challenges and the possible answers, said the representative of the Security Council.

“I will submit a report to the Security Council and in close cooperation with the Counter-Terrorism Bureau, we will try to get answers to Niger’s questions and requests,” concluded Michèle Coninsx.
