Nigeria: Death Toll Hits 57 As Unidentified Disease Sweeps Through Enugu Communities

A strange disease outbreak has caused deaths of at least 57 persons at Ette and Umuopu communities in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State. This outbreak has affected communities. According to Vincent Oshomi, the officer of the Disease Surveillance and Notification, the cause of the deaths has not been discovered yet. However, he assured that the Enugu State Ministry of Health has been on alert. 

The Ministry has collected the specimens of the affected persons in the communities for proper diagnosis and treatment. According to sources, the disease broke out at Ette at the beginning of September 2020. First it spread to the border community of Umuopu, where 20 persons have died, including four casualties recorded yesterday and then the communities.
