With effect from today, the federal government has extended the guidelines on phase three of the eased lockdown by one month.
This was announced yesterday by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha, at the Presidential Task Force (PTF) for the COVID-19 briefing in Abuja.
Mustapha, who chairs the task force, has confirmed cases of COVID-19 strain B117 in Nigeria. In the UK and South Africa, the strain was first identified. The PTF also set the cost of each vaccine dose at between $3 and $10.
Mustapha noted that the decision to expand all the existing steps recommended in the Phase Three Ease on Lockdown Guidelines was focused on the fact that the country continued to see a rise in COVID-19 incidents.
Both government workers on GL 12 and below will continue to operate from home in compliance with the new rules, while the government will continue to prosecute international passengers who do not turn up for post-arrival testing on day seven.
