Nigeria: Lagos Building Professionals Urged to Use Existing Codes for Safety

Dr. Idris Salako who is Lagos State Commissioner for Physical Planning and also concrete Development has advised professionals of the nation’s building industry to be guided and that to be by existing codes to supply safe and sustainable buildings. He addressed this at the 29th Lagos Builders’ Conference. Also, he made this announcement at the Annual General Meeting organised by the Lagos Branch of the Nigerian Institute of Builders, held in Lagos, recently.

Salako tagged it as “Safe and Sustainable Building in Lagos State and also Implemented Strategy for Lagos Physical Development Law and Regulation,” stated that the Lagos government was committed to achieving safe buildings and liveable environment. He expressed himself by saying that “A building which has to be fit for human living. It must have certain parameters which are keen to be observed. However, while the safety of a building could also be guaranteed through measures applicable to the individual units, sustainability might not be so achieved because it transcends this. we’d like to strive to try to do the proper thing and build right,
