Rwanda’s KIBEHO : An ideal destination for religious tourism

Spread the news

The COVID 19 Pandemic has affected trade, tourism and investments the world over. Rwanda too, has experienced this setback. The country has shown commendable expertise in dealing with the Pandemic and has even won accolades from the World Health Organization and other international bodies.

People all over the world have turned more towards God during these trying times. As a consequence, religious tourism has steadily been gaining momentum.

Rwanda’s KIBEHO is an ideal destination for religious tourism, being the only Vatican approved place of  apparitions and pilgrimage in the whole of Africa.

Kibeho, nestled in the Southern Province of the country, offers immense opportunities for people of all religions who want to spend time in prayer and meditation.

A former Ms.India, Simran Ahuja, who was on a Visit Rwanda actually postponed her departure from Kigali so that she could also visit Kibeho and she was greatly impressed with what she experienced while she was there.

Clarence Fernandes, Chairman, Rwanda Renaissance remarked ” we have brought in many pilgrim groups to Kibeho and now with more and more people turning to God for Divine intervention, we plan to take religious tourism to Kibeho to the next level.”

“While the spotlessly clean capital city of Kigali is a great point of entry for the country, we do plan to develop Huye in the Southern Province as a hub since it is in close proximity to Kibeho and this would facilitate coordination with the Shrine authorities for our religious tourists “ Fernandes added.

“India still has restrictions for international travel. However, once the situation improves, we shall  fly the dream of Africa on RwandAir which offers direct and non stop flights from Mumbai to Kigali.” Fernandes concluded.
