Serge Aurier, celebrated an Ivory Coast goal in the 3-1 win over Mali in October by turning to the crowd and dragging his hand across his throat. “We can confirm that no sanction was imposed by the Disciplinary Committee,” a Fifa spokesman told the media. In the same game, Aurier saved the life of Mali forward Moussa Doumbia.

It has been observed that Serge Aurier, who plays football for French side Paris St-Germain, has been involved in a string of controversial incidents. In the month of September, he was sentenced to two months in jail for elbowing a police officer though he remains free pending an appeal. Again, in February, he was suspended by PSG after appearing to use homophobic language to insult then-coach Laurent Blanc.
