Two protesters were shot dead and 4 others were injured according to reports in clashes with security forces within the Ashanti region of southern Ghana, police and a hospital source said Wednesday.
They gathered to protest against the killing of Ibrahim “Kaaka” Mohammed, a young civil society activist and member of the recent #FixTheCountry political and social protest movement on Tuesday. He was beaten to death by several unidentified people on Saturday.
Police and security officers tried to stop the protest but it turned out to be violent. “One of the 2 men had already died when he received the hospital. We tried to resuscitate the opposite but he succumbed to his injuries,” according to doctors.
Currently, we’ve four injured… One is in critical condition but the opposite three are stable.”
