November 1 is celebrated as Africa Youth day after officially being announced in 2006. It was instituted with an aim to secure the role as well as involvement of African Youth in the development of Africa.
Theme for this year’s celebration was Promoting youth mainstreaming as a catalyst towards harnessing the Demographic Dividend. Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, Chairperson of the African Union Commission urged the youth to ponder over this year’s theme and come up with refreshing and innovative ideas in order to pace up continent’s development and transformation.
