Ethiopia’s Gada system among 33 intangible heritage items adopted by UNESCO

Ethiopia’s traditional social-stratification system called Gada system is among the 33 items of intangible heritage adopted by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation.

At the 11th UNESCO Session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, participants hailed Ethiopia’s hospitality and tourist attractions.

Committee member and Hungarian delegation Ana Siykna while commending the Horn of Africa’s tourist attractions said, “We received a warm welcome and our stay was wonderful. So we are very glad of the successful organization of the event.”
