Microsoft recommits to Africa’s affordable internet access

Renewing its Affordable Access Initiative (AAI) grant for the second year, the American multinational company Microsoft has embarked on the second year of fulfilling its commitment towards providing affordable internet access in Africa.

The application process is now open for a new set of partners. The first round of investments, Microsoft awarded grants to 12 businesses, five of which were from Africa and one from Nigeria named Ekovolt.

“The social enterprises we support have inspired us with practical, high-impact and scalable approaches to help close the digital divide,” said Microsoft Affordable Access Initiatives Director Paul Garnett
