Visiting American delegation ‘impressed’ with Côte d’Ivoire’s economic reforms

Abidjan, Cote d’lvoire, July 6, 2018 – Following meetings with President Alassane Ouattara, Prime Minister Amadou Gon Coulibaly, and several members of the Ivorian Government, on July 3, 2018 in Abidjan, the United States Under-Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Kaplan said the US delegation is satisfied with the reforms initiated in Côte d’Ivoire in the framework of doing business.

“Our delegation is very impressed by Côte d’Ivoire’s economic reforms,” said Kaplan, adding that it is important to encourage US investment that these reforms continue.

The Undersecretary for Trade for International Trade said he understood the Ivorian government’s investment priorities, including local processing of raw materials and the mining sector.

Gilbert Kaplan ensured, as a result, American expertise for the processing of cocoa, cashew and for the mining sector.

Discussions will continue with the Ivorian government, so that US companies that are already favourable can really invest in Côte d’Ivoire, he said.

The delegation of 50 members of the private sector and the US government was at the end of its mission in Côte d’Ivoire, to study the possibilities of doing business in this country.
