Mali protesters once again continue the demand of Keita resign

Crowds have once again gathered on the streets of Bamako, Mali’s capital to continue the so-called protest “Movement of June 5” and renew the demands for the resignation of President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita. They were gathered on Friday to take the attention of the country’s newly revived opposition and were supported by Mahmoud Dicko, a prominent religious leader whose political star has been rising over the devolving security situation in the northern and central regions of the country.

Many soldiers and citizens died brutally, and hundreds of people had lost their homes due to attacks that have increased fivefold since 2016 and have spilt into neighbouring Burkina Faso and Niger. Keita was elected the next year and won a second five-year term in 2018.
