France to return skulls of Algerian anti-colonial fighters

Algeria had sent 24 fighters during colonial forces who occupied Algeria in 1830 and took part in an 1849 revolt. After they were captured, their skulls were taken to France as trophies. France has now returned the remains of the fighters, they had the skulls of the fighters stored in a Paris Museum for decades which are now returned to Algeria. This was all made possible due to the efforts put by the Algerian historians and came in the middle of the Legacy of Colonialism.

Algerian army chief Said Chengiha said in a speech on Friday that “The valiant resistance fighters who refused the colonisation of their country by defeating France and their remains were made a vulgar showpiece in a museum. That is the monstrous face of colonisation, Algeria is living a special day today.”
