There is a name that puts smiles on the faces of the people in Mogadishu and beyond: Muwado.
The eight-year-old girl is the focus for Somalia’s short comedy videos storming. Muwado Abshir’s sketches focus on a wide range of topics, including unemployment, fashion, fascination with social media and even ties, and no-one can spare her jokes, millions of times on online platforms, including TikTok and YouTube.
In an interview, Muwado said she likes to make people happy and she gets happy when she sees them. She also said that people look better when they are happy and laughing. It was all started in December when she forced her sibling to make a video of her and post it online.
