Algeria: Journalist imprisoned for 3 years over protest coverage

Khaled Drareni, the editor of the news site Casbah Tribune and TV5 Monde reporter, RSF media watchdog, was sentenced to three years in prison and accused of  “endangering national unity” and “inciting an unarmed gathering”.

He is imprisoned for 3 years as his lawyer said on Monday. He had been in detention since late March. He is also ordered to pay a fine of  50,000 dinars (about $400), according to the National Committee for the Release of Detainees.
