Nigeria: Time to Break the Culture of Silence around Women’s Reproductive Illnesses

There is a culture in Nigeria to remain silent about the poor reproductive health. Due to this silence women are suffering from some form of reproductive morbidity or illness. Reproductive morbidity is a type of dysfunction of the reproductive parts including pregnancy, abortion, childbirth, or sexual behaviour and also include psychological nature. It includes the use of gynaecology, obstetrics and contraceptives.

A study is conducted to examine the prevalence of reproductive morbidity among female traders in a major market within Ibadan, south-west Nigeria. Female traders are a division of economically active women across different socio-economic, sociocultural, and educational classes in society. They are, therefore, a good representation of women in society.
