Three women, 2 from Africa, in the final five for the WTO leadership race!

Five candidates are moved to the finals of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) leadership race. Out of the five, three are women and two of them are from Africa. The five candidates are Kenyan Minister Amina Mohamed, former Nigerian Finance Minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, South Korean Trade Minister Yoo Myung-hee, Saudi Arabia’s Mohammad al-Tuwaijri and former British Minister Liam Fox.

The Geneva-based body said on Friday that they are  advanced to the second round of selection to become the next director-general of WTO. The WTO is looking for a new director general as former general, Brazilian Roberto Azevedo, stepped down a year earlier than expected at the end of August. This organisation never had a  leader who is female or from Africa.
