Nearly 1 in 5 COVID19 Deaths Linked to Diabetes!

The World Health Organization (WHO) has done a study and found out that 18.3% of COVID-19 deaths in the African region are due to diabetes. This is one of the conditions that studies have found that increase the risk of severe illness and death among patients who are infected with the virus. The WHO has done an analysis of 14 African countries. The analysis has discovered that COVID-19 and comorbidities have the risk of complications or death from COVID-19 among people with diabetes. This problem increases with age like people aged 60 years and above, they all are facing greater risks.

Diabetes has many problems like blindness, kidney failure, heart attacks, and others. But with early diagnosis of this disease and treatment, many of the diseases can be delayed or even avoided. This disease arises either when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin which is called type 1 diabetes. Secondly, when the body cannot effectively use the insulin it produces, which is type 2 diabetes. The most common is type 2 diabetes.
