Zimbabwe’s government imposes national lockdown!

Zimbabwe’s government imposed a national lockdown to contain Covid-19 cases. It happened on Saturday. Only essential services, like hospitals, pharmacies and supermarkets will remain operational for the subsequent 30 days. The government first imposed a nationwide lockdown in March but had eased most of these measures because of the crisis in Economy.

Vice President and Health minister Constantino Chiwenga told reporters there had been an enormous spike in cases over the festive season which just about doubled the number of infections recorded throughout the year. Gatherings are reduced to a maximum of 30 people and a curfew is in situ from 6 pm to 6 am. The government says the number of cases recorded over the festive season almost doubled from infections recorded thus far this year. Covid 19 cases doubled in two months from 8374 at the beginning of November, to 14084 now.
