After a rise in the cases of Covid-19, the government has imposed a 30-day strict national lockdown. The interventions include an early morning curfew and strict interprovincial travel restrictions. Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga, who is also Health Ministry’s, said that there will be no permission to run restaurants, bars, gyms or spa shops, and there cannot be church services or marriages.

Funerals are allowed, with fewer than 30 participants. Chiwenga said that air travel is still permitted, whereby people arriving or coming back are expected to request certificates that are free from Covid-19. The government first introduced a tough lockdown in March but had gradually eased the restrictions. It currently has over 14,084 cases and 369 Covid-19 deaths.
