Somalia to hold presidential vote in October

Political leaders in Somalia agreed to hold presidential elections on October 10th, after months of blockade that turned violent at times, the Prime Minister’s Office stated on Tuesday.

In a statement on Twitter, Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble’s office revealed the calendar for indirect parliamentary and Presidential elections, claiming that stakeholders agreed to a voting map following two days of meetings in Mogadishu Capital.

“I commend the leaders of the council and hope the election is going to be a peaceful and transparent one, supporting the agreed-upon schedule and processes,” the prime minister said.
