Movie Review by:    Akansha Jain

Namaste Wahala is a 2020 Nigerian cross-cultural romantic comedy film produced, written and directed by Hamisha Daryani Ahuja on her directorial debut. The film stars Ini Dima-Okojie and Ruslaan Mumtaz in the lead roles. This is the first collaboration between Nollywood and the Bollywood industry. This is a romcom (romantic+comedy) movie between an Indian boy and a Nigerian girl despite coming from completely different backgrounds with major cultural differences. Raj (Ruslaan Mumtaz) is an Indian investment banker and Didi played by Ini Dima-Okojie, a daughter of a rich advocate who is a lawyer and a social worker. They both meet at a beach and fall in love in just like 5 minutes, a typical Bollywood drama, love at first sight! In Fact they start dreaming of getting married and leading a happy life together forever. Just like a romantic movie. But without twists and turns the movie is like a pie without sweetness. The major turns take place when their families deny marriage because of different cultural backgrounds. The girl’s father, played by Richard Mofe-Damijo, wants his child to marry one of his eligible Nigerian employees, and the boy’s mother opposes the son’s Nigerian girl. So what do you think will happen? Will they be able to convince their families? Will they lead a happy life together?

To answer these questions, you have to watch this drama movie. All the comedy, twists and turns have made this movie

All the stars are looking good in the movie. Overall performance is decent. Production Wise the movie was set in Lagos, Nigeria. The dressing sense was very good. The music is passable and overall the screenplay is dull making the film an extremely tedious watch.
