A major housing initiative has been undertaken by President Ibrahim Traore to alleviate shortages and upgrade living conditions in Burkina Faso.
This ambitious project, initiated on July 12, 2024, about 40 kilometers from Ouagadougou, focuses on providing housing for Internally displaced persons (IDPs) due to security issues and also underscores President Traore’s dedication to providing every Burkinabe with decent housing by 2030.
A total of 1,000 housing units are being built across various regions, with the Centre-North Region receiving 800 units, Ouahigouya 100 units, and Nagréongo and Bobo-Dioulasso 50 units each, at an estimated cost of 5.23 million CFA francs.
Funding for housing projects will come from streamlined government expenditures, not citizens’ paychecks, as per President Traoré’s directive.
