Italy’s Eni company is set to sell some of its oil and gas assets in Congo-Brazzaville and other African countries to Vitol, increasing Vitol’s footprint in the oil and gas sector. This move comes as Vitol seeks to invest more in the sector to meet growing demands driven by the Russian-Ukrainian war and other conflicts. Vitol plans to reinvest the profits it has been making since 2022. As a result, Vitol will acquire a 25% share of Eni’s 65% stake in the Congolese liquefied natural gas (LNG) project.
