International NGOs in the Democratic Republic of Congo have expressed concern over the sharp cut in aid by donors. While clashes between rival groups in some parts of the country and disease outbreaks such as cholera, measles, and monkeypox have compounded the situation, some NGOs are reported to have run into debt as they have undertaken projects for which they are yet to receive funding. If this situation is not remedied within the shortest possible time, heavy investment will be lost and many lives will be exposed to risk.
