Cairo’s Health Vision: Localizing MedTech for Africa’s Future with UAE Partnership

A New Era of Medical Technology in Africa

As African nations seek self-sufficiency in healthcare, Egypt is charting a bold new course—one where medical technology in Africa is made in Africa, for Africa. At Africa Health ExCon 2025 in Cairo, a strategic partnership was launched, between Egypt and the UAE, with the goal of localizing medical technology for both local and continental needs. This marks a pivotal step for healthcare innovation in Africa.

Egypt-UAE Healthcare Partnership Unveiled

Unveiled at Africa Health ExCon 2025, the memorandum of understanding between Egypt’s Unified Procurement Authority (UPA) and INDEX Holding focuses on strengthening Africa’s medtech market by enabling local manufacturing, training, and world-class events. Egypt’s regional healthcare leadership, combined with the UAE’s expertise in medical exhibitions, provides a strong foundation for this Egypt-UAE healthcare partnership, which is set to revolutionize medical technology in Africa.

Dr. Hisham Siteit, Chairman of UPA, underscored the partnership’s impact, stating (Medgate Today Global):
“We believe in the importance of regional and international cooperation in developing the healthcare sector, particularly in medical technologies, continuing education, and knowledge exchange. This partnership will enable us to adopt global best practices in organising medical and scientific conferences.”

Driving AI-Driven Healthcare Solutions

Through joint exhibitions, workshops, and AI-driven healthcare solutions, the initiative promotes adaptable innovations such as smart hospital technologies, affordable diagnostics, and localized production. By connecting startups, public agencies, and manufacturers, the Egypt-UAE healthcare partnership fosters co-created solutions tailored to African realities. With Africa’s medtech market projected to surpass $11 billion by 2030, Cairo’s localizing medical technology strategy demonstrates actionable healthcare innovation in Africa.

Africa’s Medtech Vision Becomes Reality

Africa’s medtech future is no longer a distant goal—it is being developed, manufactured, and tested right now in Cairo. By advancing AI-driven healthcare solutions and emphasizing localizing medical technology, the Egypt-UAE healthcare partnership positions Egypt as a global hub for medical technology in Africa.
