Every two years from November 7 to December 7, the Dakar Biennale—also known as Dak’Art—takes place in the capital city. Through performances, installations, images, and paintings, this event honors modern African art. Backed by the Ministry of Culture of Senegal, Dakar is established as a center for African creative expression. Launched in 1999, the Festival International du Film de Quartier is Dakar’s top film festival for movie buffs, held yearly December. It showcases local film talent via showings in cultural centers, restaurants, and museums. The event lets budding filmmakers meet bigger audiences and get noticed.

the Kaay Fecc Festival
