Five people were killed in a church near west of Johannesburg as reported by the South African police. Police have stated that attackers have taken hostages with them but afterwards, they were freed. As reported the number of attackers was around 40 equipped with 40 firearms, including rifles, shotguns and handguns in the international Pentecost Holiness Church in Zuurbekom on Saturday.

South African police posted on Twitter #sapsGP Early hours this morning #SAPS was alerted to a hostage situation & shooting @International Pentcost Holiness Church, Zuurbekom, 30 suspects arrested & seized more than 25 firearms. 5 fatalities are confirmed. The scene is still active with SAPS Hostage Negotiators.
