Cyril Taolo, acting director of the Department of Wildlife and National Parks, Botswana told about the mysterious deaths of 356 elephants in the area north of the Okavango Delta. 275 dead elephants have been confirmed so far. They do not suspect poaching since animals were found with tusks.

The country has the world’s largest elephant population of around 130,000. The Delta alone itself is home to an estimated 15,000 elephants. The cause of the deaths has not yet been discovered. Samples have been collected and sent to the laboratories of South Africa, Zimbabwe and Canada for testing. Elephants Without Borders(EWB) suspects that the elephants were dying from the last 3 months.
