According to Egyptian and Sudanese officials, negotiations were made between the countries but ended with no deal over the Blue Nile Dam. Many efforts were made but ended with negative results, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said on Monday in an interview with Egypt’s DMC TV channel.

There were high hopes that the three countries will resolve their issues and sign an agreement before Ethiopia begins to fill the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), set to be Africa’s largest. Filling the GERD without an agreement would sharply raise tensions, with observers fearing it could push the countries to the brink of military conflict.
