Kenya’s solution to school problems: Cancel Year and Start Over

In Kenya schools and universities are closed until January 2021, but are continued virtually. The government has shut down all the education platforms since March and remote lessons were introduced since then streamed over radio, television and videos posted on YouTube. But for the poor children, it was not possible to have laptops, radios or any other gadgets.

One-fourth of schools in Kenya are private and charge fees ranging from tens of dollars per year to tens of thousands of dollars. They are supported by private entrepreneurs, religious organizations and nonprofit organizations. There was a sharp rise in cases of 23,873 infections and 391 deaths.
