An online auction has been planned for the premium arabica coffee has excited farmers in Kiambu, Murang’a and Nyeri county with six farms already submitting for the Singapore virtual sale on October 1. Several farmers like New Gaturi, Muthithi and Kangiri from their respective societies have joined C Dorman Sez Limited in the sale. The Singapore Coffee Association aimed at creating a direct online market platform bypassing the Covid-19 pandemic, which disrupted traditional market chains. The event has attracted 45 producers and 56 lots of speciality grade coffee from 12 countries.

Farmers have said that the launch in Singapore of their coffee has increased a tremendous level of interest from all around the world. Victor Mah, president of Singapore Coffee Association said that An estimated 200 bidders from around Asia and the Middle East are expected to turn up at this first-ever virtual coffee auction.
