For the 2020 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Batch ‘B’ orientation exercise this month, a total of 6,000 prospective corps members from different institutions around the country will be mobilized.
Brigadier General Shaibu Ibrahim, Director General of NYSC, unveiled the truth in a workshop for stakeholders yesterday in Jos, the capital of the Plateau State.
Ibrahim said that all the protocols of COVID-19 had been enforced by management in NYSC to monitor the pandemic in order to restrict the transfer of the population to all the camps throughout the world.
According to the President, NYSC management was prepared to ensure that all its operations were strictly compliant with the rules, including awarding National Service certificates to members of corps who successfully completed their national services.
The NYSC was determined to resolve the emergent problems in the next guidance exercise and told the workshop organisation of the theme “Evolving a dynamic Operational Strategy in the Management of Camps in the Context of COVID-19.”
Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, Director-General of the NYSC discussed in an exclusive interview. He said that the organisation is prepared to deploy 6,000 corps members to participate in the Batch ‘B’ exercise.
“We have gone around the country to assure that the camps are also ready and are going to merge those who suspended their orientation in March to also participate for the forthcoming national orientation exercise,” he added.

The DG said that he had put in place all COVID-19 protocols in order to prevent the spread of the pandemic and curtail community transmission in camps across the country.
“The corps will make sure that the strict compliance with guidelines in all activities, including the issuance of certificates to corps members that had successfully completed their service. The NYSC boss appealed to state governments to discharge their responsibilities of upgrading and expanding camp facilities to completely serve the increasing population of corps members,” he added.
