Proposal of Lowest Funding for Women in Agribusiness in Four Years!

Nigeria has a contribution of 75-80 per cent from the agricultural sector and that from women. Women in agribusiness will receive the lowest funding in their business. In these five years, if the 2021 budget is passed into law, an analysis has shown that the federal budgets since 2017. The 2021 Appropriation Bill has been sent to the National Assembly. It happened on October 8 by President Muhammadu Buhari. They have also passed the second reading at the Senate.

In the budget, the government has allocated N416 million to women for their agribusiness. It is believed that women in agriculture are the major food producers in the agriculture sector.  Usually, women are solely associated with agricultural export crops such as cocoa, rubber, cotton. However, they are also engaged in the production of food crops such as maize, pepper, cassava, and vegetables.
