In Mauritius, the National Organising Committee of “L’Escalier International City of Peace” in close collaboration with the Omnicane Foundation. Delivery of bags to all 170 students of the 6 pre-primary schools of the village of L’Escalier as well as a presentation of certificates to the directors of these establishments for their commitment.

The ceremony began at 10 am sharp with the national anthem followed by the famous song “don to la main, pran mo la main” in various languages ​​. Each of the schools then took turns to showcase their students to perform a song or dance with the teachers. Amongst we find hits such as “Mille colombes”, “Dan zenfan ena bondie” and “We are the world”.

Among the speakers was the Ambassador for Peace, Chelvin Ramsamy, who was very vocal in the face of the many scourges facing young people today such as drugs, juvenile delinquency and early pregnancy. He stressed that the purpose of the function was to prepare his children for the future and to recognize the effort of teachers. For him, we all have an essential role to play vis-à-vis society to instil good virtues ​​in children. The Omnicane Foundation, he pointed out, has always campaigned for the well-being of the village and that of its inhabitants above all. Dr Kailesh Kumar Jagutpal, Minister of Health and Welfare, congratulated the National Organizing Committee for all these efforts despite a very difficult year with the Covid-19. He took the opportunity to stress the importance of education, which he believes remains the key to everyone’s development. He pointed out that the government takes a lot of precautions to contain an invisible enemy.

Dr Renganaden Padayachy, Minister of Finance, also pointed out that the government is working hard for the well-being of the village and has always listened to the villagers. For example, the reopening of the SBM bank in the village on December 17, which residents have been requestibg for many years.

Dr Ismael Rawoo, Parliamentary Private Secretary, did not take the opportunity to highlight the dedication of the government and the attention that he and his two colleagues give to district number 13.

His Excellency Dr Alya’a Samir Borhan, Egypt’s new Ambassador, praised the peace and harmony that reigns in this southern village. For her, the rainbow and multiracial nation is very visible among the inhabitants and Mauritius remains a unique model for other countries to follow.

These speakers, as well as various other high personalities who were present in the crowd such as Preetam Boodhun, the Chairman of Landscope Mauritius, Daramraj Kona Terukunondu, the Chairman of the Mauritius Cooperative Alliance Co Ltd, and Rajiv Ramlugon, Group Chief Sustainability Officer of Omnicane Foundation , all, had the opportunity to distribute bags and certificates.

The vote of thanks was given in favor of the company Omnicane and its CEO, Jacques D’Unienville G.O.S.K, for their invaluable contribution to a better village and a better Mauritius.
