A financial support of 178 million Euros ($199.6) million has been secured by the African union from the European Union for its peacekeeping mission in Somalia as the elections are coming up next month. The funds will be used for the allowances of mission troops and police, international and local civilian staff salaries and operational costs, the African Union said in a statement.

The island of Mauritius in collaboration with the World Bank Group, had on September 1-2 organized a ministerial conference on the economies of the oceans and climate change.

Several topics were discussed including financing, growth, sustainability, employment, and spatial planning. The outcome of the event is to be submitted to the United Nations Conference on climate in Marrakesh scheduled on November 7-18th.
