New measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus were announced by the president of Tanzania on Monday.
- Now the people arriving from other countries in Tanzania will be required to present a negative test performed less than 72 hours as said by the health ministry, expressing concern about new variants of the virus.
- Passengers coming from countries with a high number of infections will need to undergo a further antigenic test, at a fee, the ministry added, without specifying the standards to be used to designate these countries.
- In addition, those that have visited a village with “new Covid-19 variants” within the previous fortnight will need to undergo a compulsory 14-day quarantine, at their own expense. Tanzanian citizens are going to be ready to isolate themselves from reception , while foreigners will need to attend a government facility.
